About PTE Academic UKVI

PTE Academic UKVI is the same test as PTE Academic, taken at an approved centre, with a score report that carries a SELT Unique Reference Number. The UK Home Office uses that reference to check your result.

Book it only if your UK visa route or course provider asks for a SELT. For a degree at a UK university that accepts PTE, the regular PTE Academic is usually what you need.

Who should take it

  • Students on UK courses below degree level, such as foundation and pre-sessional courses
  • Applicants for UK Skilled Worker, Innovator Founder and other work routes
  • Degree-level students at UK providers that ask for a SELT

Commonly accepted for

  • UK Student visa below degree level: CEFR B1, 43 or higher in each skill
  • UK Skilled Worker and other B2 routes: 59 or higher in each skill (since January 2026)

How it differs from the other tests

  1. 01

    UKVI vs regular PTE Academic

Identical test; only the UKVI score report is accepted where a UK route requires a SELT.

  2. 02

PTE Academic UKVI vs PTE Home

PTE Home tests only speaking and listening for UK family and settlement routes, with a pass or fail result.

  3. 03

PTE UKVI vs IELTS for UKVI

Both are approved four-skill SELTs. PTE is fully computer-based; IELTS Speaking is face to face.

Test format

PTE Academic UKVI format

Part 1: Speaking & Writing76–84 minutesSame question types as PTE Academic
Part 2: Reading23–30 minutesSame as PTE Academic
Part 3: Listening31–39 minutesSame as PTE Academic

Scoring

  • Same scoring as PTE Academic: 10–90 overall and for each skill.
  • UK routes set a minimum in each skill, so your lowest skill score decides whether you meet the requirement.

How to book

  1. Confirm in writing that your UK route or provider needs a SELT.
  2. Choose PTE Academic UKVI (not regular PTE Academic) in your myPTE account.
  3. Book a UKVI-approved centre and attend with the passport you will use for the visa.
  4. Use the SELT reference on your score report in the visa application.

PTE Academic UKVI costs ₹18,900 including GST in India from 16 March 2026 (confirm in myPTE).

How we prepare you

  • A computer-based diagnostic mock first, so you see how integrated scoring affects each skill.
  • Headset practice in a room with other voices, because that is what the test centre is like.
  • Speaking drills for fluency and pronunciation: steady pace, no long pauses, natural stress.
  • Spelling and typing drills for Write from Dictation, Fill in the Blanks and summaries.
  • Full timed mocks every week, with a review of the question types that cost you the most marks.
  • No score guarantees: we help you prepare well and track your progress honestly.

Plan your PTE Academic UKVI dateWe match your batch to your university or visa deadline and track your progress with timed mock tests.

Preparation tips

  • Target the per-skill minimum, not just an overall score.
  • Keep your passport details identical across booking, test and visa application.
  • Don't book UKVI for a university degree unless asked: regular PTE Academic usually works.
