About the ROI calculator

What is ROI for an online degree?

Return on investment compares what the degree costs you (fees plus any loan interest) with the extra salary it helps you earn. ROI = (extra earnings − total cost) ÷ total cost × 100.

Where do the salary numbers come from?

From you. Enter your own salary and a realistic jump for your field. The calculator doesn't assume any placement or salary promise from a university, because outcomes vary by person, industry and city.

What is a good payback period?

Many working professionals look for an online degree that pays back within two to three years of finishing. A shorter payback means less risk if your plans change.

Are the fees accurate?

They are indicative total programme fees collected from university websites. Universities change fees and offer concessions, so confirm the current fee before you pay. You can type in a different fee at any time.
