About the university

The University of New England (UNE) is a public university in Armidale, a country town on the New England tablelands of northern New South Wales. It describes itself as Australia's most experienced provider of distance and online education, and it has about 21,000 students, many of whom study online.

UNE is known for flexible study and also teaches agriculture, rural science, business, IT, health and education. Its Armidale campus has eight residential colleges, which gives on-campus students a close-knit, collegiate experience.

For Indian students UNE offers on-campus master's degrees at moderate fees: UNE's 2027 table lists A$34,176 for the Master of Information Technology and A$35,808 for the Master of Data Science (estimated first-year fees). Students from South Asia can receive a 20% bursary on first-year tuition, and many courses can start in February, June or October.

Armidale is a small regional city with lower living costs than Sydney. Studying in a regional area can affect post-study work rights; see our Australia guide for the current rules.
