About the university
The University of Newcastle began in 1951 as a college of the University of New South Wales and became an independent university in 1965. It is a public university with its main campus at Callaghan and campuses in Newcastle City, on the Central Coast, in Sydney and in Singapore.
UON is known for engineering, health and medicine, business and computing. Its Newcastle Business School is accredited by both AACSB and EQUIS, and its degrees in computer science, data science and IT include compulsory career-ready placements of 240 hours.
Indian students mainly choose its two-year Master of Information Technology (also taught at the Sydney campus), Master of Cyber Security, MBA, Master of Professional Accounting and the two-year Master of Professional Engineering. Many business and IT master's run in trimesters, so you can start three times a year. The International Excellence Scholarship of A$6,000 a year is applied automatically to eligible students.
Newcastle is the second-largest city in New South Wales, on the coast north of Sydney. It is cheaper than Sydney, and on-campus rooms at Callaghan start at about A$255 a week in 2027.
