About the university
George Brown was founded in 1967 as George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology and opened its doors in March 1968. In 2025 it became George Brown Polytechnic. It is a public institution with three campuses in downtown Toronto and about 30,000 full-time students.
George Brown is known for its Casa Loma technology and construction programmes, its Waterfront business programmes and its St. James hospitality and culinary programmes. It offers one-year postgraduate certificates, two- and three-year diplomas, honours bachelor's degrees and a Master of Construction Management.
Indian students choose George Brown for its downtown Toronto location, postgraduate certificates in AI, cloud computing, cyber security and project management, and a wide employer network of more than 5,000 industry partners. Many postgraduate certificates also open in January and May.
Toronto is Canada's largest city and business centre. Rents and living costs are among the highest in Canada, so budget carefully and arrange housing early.
