About the university

Humber Polytechnic, known for most of its history as Humber College, is a public post-secondary institution in Toronto, Ontario. It is one of Canada's largest polytechnics, with 66,760 full-time students and 204 full-time programmes in its 2024-25 annual report. It offers diplomas, advanced diplomas, one- and two-year Ontario graduate certificates and four-year honours bachelor's degrees.

Humber is best known for applied, career-focused teaching: labs, field placements and co-op terms built into many programmes. Its Longo Faculty of Business and Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology run the business, analytics, IT, AI and engineering-technology programmes that most Indian applicants look at.

For Indian students the draw is Toronto itself, a wide choice of one-year and two-year graduate certificates after a bachelor's degree, and intakes in January, May and September. Humber says it offers 80 programmes that are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), but not every programme is: always check the PGWP line on the programme page before applying.

Toronto is Canada's largest city and its main business centre. It has a very large Indian community, but rents are among the highest in Canada, so budget carefully for housing.

    • Degrees list specific Grade 12 subjects; for example, the Cybersecurity degree needs English, Physics and Mathematics with at least 65% in each and 65% overall.
    • Apply online and pay the non-refundable CAD 100 application fee.

    Postgraduate

    • Ontario graduate certificates need a bachelor's degree or advanced diploma; some ask for a related field (for example, AI with Machine Learning needs prior maths and programming).
    • Humber asks Indian applicants for a bachelor's degree in First Division/Class; consolidated transcripts are not accepted.
    • Submit a backlog summary. Humber accepts up to 2 backlogs for a three-year bachelor's and up to 4 for a four-year bachelor's.
    • Check the PGWP line on the programme page: some graduate certificates (and all online delivery) are not PGWP-eligible.

    Accommodation and living costs

Humber has residences at North and Lakeshore campuses. Rates for 2026-27 are the same as 2025-26, a CAD 500 deposit is due when you accept a room, and a dining plan is compulsory. Places are limited, so many international students rent shared rooms in Etobicoke or elsewhere in Toronto.

    Campus and location

Humber's two main campuses are in west Toronto: North Campus in Etobicoke, next to the Humber Arboretum, and Lakeshore Campus on Lake Ontario. The International Graduate School (IGS) runs selected graduate certificates in downtown Toronto.

    • North Campus hosts most IT, AI, engineering-technology and health programmes.
    • Lakeshore Campus hosts many business programmes, including business analytics and supply chain degrees.
    • Each programme page shows the campus and the open intakes for international students; check both before applying.
    • Toronto Pearson Airport is close to North Campus.

    Careers and graduate outcomes

Most Humber programmes include a field placement or optional co-op, which gives you Canadian work experience before you graduate. Placements and co-op are not guaranteed. Whether you can get a Post-Graduation Work Permit depends on the programme; see our Canada guide for current work rules.

    FAQs

How much does a Humber graduate certificate cost for an Indian student?

Most graduate certificates we checked cost about CAD 19,800 to CAD 24,800 for two semesters in 2026-27. Four-semester certificates cost roughly double in total. Health insurance is extra. Fees for 2027-28 are not yet published.

    Which intakes does Humber offer?

January, May and September, but each programme opens different intakes for international students. The programme page shows each intake as Open, Suspended, Not Available or Opening Soon.

Is every Humber programme eligible for a PGWP?

No. Humber marks PGWP eligibility on each programme page. Some graduate certificates, such as Global Business Management, are marked not eligible, and online delivery is not eligible. See our Canada guide for the wider rules.

Does Humber accept Class 12 English instead of IELTS?

Humber does not list a Class 12 English waiver for Indian applicants. Plan on IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, Duolingo or another test it accepts.

Are there scholarships for Indian students?

Yes, mostly small entrance awards: a CAD 2,000 President's International Entrance Award for 2027 starts, and CAD 1,500–4,000 bachelor's scholarships based on school marks.
