About the university

Saskatchewan Polytechnic is the province of Saskatchewan's public polytechnic. It took its current name in 2014, when The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Act allowed SIAST to rename itself. It teaches at four campuses, in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert, and offers certificates, diplomas, post-graduate certificates, a few degrees and apprenticeship training.

Teaching is practical and built with industry. Sask Polytech says its programmes are shaped by around 800 industry experts on advisory committees, and many diplomas include paid co-op work terms. Engineering technology diplomas such as Mechanical Engineering Technology are accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada.

Indian graduates mostly look at the one-year post-graduate certificates in cyber security, AI and data analytics, IT project management and supply chain, which need a bachelor's degree. Fees are lower than at many Ontario colleges, and living costs in Saskatoon and Regina are lower than in Toronto or Vancouver.

Programme availability changes often. Some post-graduate certificates are suspended at certain campuses, and since November 2024 some Sask Polytech programmes no longer lead to a Post-Graduation Work Permit. Check the programme page and the PGWP page before you apply.
