Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) was founded in 1743 and is one of Germany's largest universities, with close to 40,000 students. It has five faculties: humanities and social sciences, business, economics and law, medicine, sciences and engineering. Its main sites are in Erlangen and Nuremberg in northern Bavaria.

FAU is best known for engineering, medical technology, materials science, computer science and AI.
