About the university

Hochschule Fresenius is one of Germany's oldest private universities of applied sciences. It traces its roots to the chemistry laboratory and lab school that Carl Remigius Fresenius founded in 1848. Its historic home is Idstein in the Taunus hills near Frankfurt, where chemistry, biology and health programmes are still taught, and it now has campuses in many German cities.

Fresenius teaches business and management, psychology, media, health and therapy, chemistry and biosciences, and fashion and design. Most programmes are taught in German. The main English-taught options are the BA International Business Management, a full-time MBA, and a small group of international master's in management, industrial engineering, e-commerce and health economics.

For Indian students the attractions are intakes in both semesters for many courses and applications that are open all year for several programmes. It is a private university, so you pay monthly tuition fees, and the English-taught programmes are mostly in Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Düsseldorf rather than Idstein.

Idstein is a small historic town in the Taunus, close to Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Mainz, and quieter than the big-city campuses.

    Admission requirements

    Undergraduate

    • You need a school qualification that gives access to German higher education. An Indian Class 12 certificate on its own usually does not; check your case with Fresenius admissions.
    • Most bachelor's programmes have no numerus clausus (grade cut-off).
    • German-taught programmes need German at university level; the International Business Management bachelor's is taught in English.
    • Indian applicants need an APS certificate for the visa process; see our Germany guide.

    Postgraduate

    • A bachelor's with at least 180 CP, so a three-year Indian degree can qualify.
    • Most master's set minimum credits in the subject area; if you lack them, you may sit an entrance test.
    • The full-time MBA needs at least one year of relevant work experience and B2 English.
    • The English-taught master's on hs-fresenius.com (International Management, Industrial Engineering and International Management, E-Commerce & Logistics, International Health Economics & Pharmacoeconomics) ask for B2 English; ask Fresenius for their fees and campus.

    Documents

    • Valid passport
    • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets
    • Bachelor's degree certificate and transcripts (for master's)
    • English certificate at B2 (and German certificate for German-taught programmes)
    • CV
    • Proof of work experience (MBA)
    • APS certificate

The Idstein campus is at Limburger Straße 2 in the old Nassau residence town, close to Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Mainz. Fresenius also teaches in eight other German cities and online.

    • Many bachelor's include an optional or integrated internship semester.

    Careers and graduate outcomes

Fresenius programmes are career-focused, with internship semesters and practice partners. German language skills matter a lot for jobs, especially outside the big cities. Fresenius does not publish graduate employment figures on the pages we checked.
