About the university
RPTU University of Kaiserslautern-Landau was formed on 1 January 2023, when TU Kaiserslautern merged with the University in Landau. It has over 20,000 students on two campuses and about 160 degree programmes. It is a public university, so there is no tuition fee, only a social fee of about €350 a semester.
Its English-taught master's on the Kaiserslautern campus cover computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical and process engineering, mathematics, physics, biology and cognitive science.
For Indian students, the main draws are the English-taught MSc Computer Science, Embedded Computing Systems, Automation and Control, Commercial Vehicle Technology and the mathematics master's. Most technical programmes start in both winter and summer. About 3,200 international students were enrolled in winter 2025/26.
Kaiserslautern is in Rhineland-Palatinate in south-west Germany. Student hall rents at the Studierendenwerk start at about €230 a month, and DAAD's course entries put living costs at about €850 a month.
