About the university

Trier University traces its roots to a medieval university founded in 1473, which was closed in 1798. The modern university opened on 15 October 1970. It is a public university in Rhineland-Palatinate with six faculties and a Theological College, and it charges no tuition fee.

Trier teaches a group of English-taught master's in data and quantitative subjects: Data Science, Applied Statistics, Natural Language Processing, Economics, Business Mathematics and Sustainability Management and Economics, plus Geoinformatics and Environmental Sciences.

For Indian students, the draw is a tuition-free, English-taught master's in data science, statistics or economics with both October and April starts. Note that Trier asks for C1-level English (IELTS 6.5) and sets strict grade rules for some programmes, such as Data Science.

Trier is in Rhineland-Palatinate, in western Germany. DAAD's course entries estimate living costs at about €1,000 a month, with rooms in halls or shared flats from about €290.
