About the university
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) opened in April 2022, when Galway-Mayo, Sligo and Letterkenny Institutes of Technology joined to form one of Ireland's new technological universities. It has about 30,600 students across nine campuses in the west and north-west of Ireland, and more than 3,000 international students from over 115 countries.
ATU focuses on applied, career-focused teaching. It is strong in computing, engineering and manufacturing, business, and life sciences, and the west of Ireland has a large medical devices and biopharmaceutical industry around Galway and Sligo. Many undergraduate courses include a work placement.
For Indian students the attraction is a public university with moderate fees: €15,000 for most on-campus master's degrees from September 2027 and €13,000 a year for undergraduate degrees. Master's degrees in data science, AI, cyber security and cloud computing are taught at Letterkenny, and business analytics and computing at Galway. Indian applicants can also apply for ATU's Global Entry Scholarship.
Galway is a lively university city on the Atlantic coast in the west of Ireland. Sligo and Letterkenny are smaller towns where rents are lower. ATU does not own any student housing, so you rent from private providers.
