About the university
Dublin City University opened in 1980 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin (established in 1975) and became a university in 1989. It is one of Ireland's younger universities, with a reputation for close links to industry, work placements and enterprise.
DCU's main campus is in Glasnevin on the north side of Dublin, about 3 km from the city centre, with further campuses at St Patrick's in Drumcondra and All Hallows. Its strongest areas for Indian students are computing, electronic engineering and DCU Business School.
Fees are lower than at many Dublin universities: most business master's courses cost €23,500 for 2027-28, and the MSc in Computing and the MEng programmes €25,000. Several computing and engineering master's courses offer a January start as well as September.
Dublin's technology and multinational employers are close by, and master's graduates can usually stay in Ireland for up to 24 months on Stamp 1G to look for work.
