About the university
Maynooth University is a public university in the town of Maynooth, County Kildare. Its roots go back to St Patrick's College, founded in 1795, and it became an independent university in 1997. It is one of Ireland's smaller universities, with about 12,700 students.
The university teaches arts, social sciences, business, law, science and engineering. Its School of Business, computer science, data science and electronic engineering departments run several one-year master's courses that suit students coming from India.
For Indian students the draw is a full university on a quieter, lower-cost campus within commuting distance of Dublin. Most business and computing master's courses cost €18,000 a year for non-EU students in 2026/27, below many Dublin universities.
Maynooth is a university town in the west of the Greater Dublin Area. Trains and buses run to Dublin city centre, and the campus has its own student residences.
