About the university
RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences began in 1784 as the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. It is a not-for-profit university that teaches only health sciences: medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing and related subjects, with a city-centre campus in Dublin and operations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
It is known for medicine. Its Dublin medical school takes a large international intake (220 non-EU places for 2027 entry) and its graduates practise in more than 94 countries. THE ranks it =267th in the world in 2027.
Indian students mostly look at RCSI for its Direct Entry Medicine degree, which takes Class 12 science students straight from school on a five- or six-year track, and for its four-year Graduate Entry Medicine course. Fees are high: €62,000 a year for non-EU Medicine students in 2027/28. If you plan to practise in India, check the National Medical Commission's rules before you apply.
The campus is in central Dublin, Ireland's capital, with RCSI's own student residence at Mercer Court nearby. Dublin is a lively, international city, but rents are among the highest in Europe.
