About the university
The University of Limerick began in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick, and became a university in 1989. It was built around close links with industry, and its cooperative education programme, which places undergraduates in paid work as part of their degree, is a central part of many of its degrees.
UL's campus covers a large riverside site on both banks of the River Shannon at Castletroy, a few kilometres from Limerick city. It is known for engineering, computing, business, sport and health sciences, and for the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.
For Indian students, one-year master's courses in software engineering, AI and machine learning, and engineering cost €21,500 a year for non-EU students, and business courses such as Finance, International Management and Project Management €18,900, lower than many Dublin universities.
Limerick is Ireland's third-largest city, with lower living costs than Dublin and good links to Shannon Airport. Master's graduates can usually stay in Ireland on Stamp 1G for up to 24 months to look for work.
