About the university
Avans University of Applied Sciences was formed on 1 January 2004 by merging Hogeschool Brabant and Hogeschool Den Bosch. It is a practice-oriented institution in the southern Netherlands, with about 30,000 students and 3,600 staff across four cities: Breda, Den Bosch, Roosendaal and Tilburg.
Most Avans programmes are taught in Dutch. For international degree students the English-taught choice is focused: the International Business (BBA) bachelor's in Breda and Den Bosch, Finance & Control International in Breda, and art and design master's in Den Bosch, including the Animation master's and the graduation tracks of the Master of Arts in Fine Art & Design. Avans also runs many English-taught exchange programmes.
Indian students look at Avans for a lower fee than most Dutch research universities, a business degree with internships and up to three periods abroad, and smaller, quieter cities than Amsterdam or Rotterdam.
