About the university

The University of Granada (UGR) was officially founded in 1531 by a papal bull of Pope Clement VII, and traces its roots to the Madrasah Yusufiyya, founded in Granada in 1349.

UGR teaches across sciences, health sciences, engineering and architecture, social sciences, law, and arts and humanities. It offers some master's that are bilingual (Spanish–English) or taught completely in English.

For Indian students the main attraction is cost: UGR's published master's price is the Andalusian public price of €13.68 per ECTS credit. The catch is language. Only a handful of master's are bilingual or in English, such as Economics, and most programmes, including Data Science and Computer Engineering, are taught in Spanish.

Granada is a historic university city in Andalusia, in southern Spain.

    Accommodation and living costs

UGR has an accommodation page for visitors and students, but we could not confirm housing prices on the pages we checked. Most students rent a room in a shared flat in Granada.

    Campus and location

UGR is a city university spread across Granada.

    • The Faculty of Economics and Business teaches the English-taught Economics master's.
    • UGR's international postgraduate school (Escuela Internacional de Posgrado) handles master's enrolment.
    • UGR traces its roots back to a madrasah founded in Granada in 1349.

    Careers and graduate outcomes

UGR does not publish employment figures for international master's graduates that we could verify. Granada's job market is smaller than Madrid's or Barcelona's and most jobs need Spanish. See our Spain country guide for post-study work options.

    FAQs

How much does a master's at the University of Granada cost?

UGR's price page shows the Andalusian public price of €13.68 per ECTS credit for a first enrolment (2025/26), about €821 for 60 credits. It lists no separate non-EU price, but non-EU non-residents can be charged more under Andalusian rules, so confirm your fee with UGR before you budget.

Can I study a master's in English at UGR?

Yes, but the choice is small. UGR's English and bilingual list includes Economics, English Literature and Linguistics, an Erasmus Mundus master's, Environmental Hydraulics and Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience.

Is UGR's Data Science master's taught in English?

It is not in UGR's English or bilingual list, so expect it to be taught in Spanish.

Do I need to homologate my Indian degree?

Not necessarily. UGR accepts either a homologated degree or one legalised with an apostille (with a sworn translation if needed), sometimes with a certificate of equivalence.
