About the university

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) traces its history to the Cambridge School of Art, which opened in 1858. Today it teaches about 26,700 students on campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and Writtle, and nearly half of them come from outside the UK.

ARU has a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework and was Times Higher Education's University of the Year in 2023. It is known for practical, career-focused courses in business, computing, health and engineering.

For Indian students the attractions are a Cambridge address at a mid-range fee, one-year master's courses with September, January and sometimes May starts, and flexible entry requirements: ARU accepts three-year Indian bachelor's degrees with a second division (50–59%). Most master's courses on this page cost £20,925 a year for 2027/28, and you can save £1,000 by paying in full before teaching starts.

The main campus is in Cambridge, a historic university city in the east of England. ARU also teaches in Chelmsford and Writtle in Essex and at ARU Peterborough, so check which campus your course is on.
