About the university
The University of Birmingham received its Royal Charter in 1900, building on Mason Science College, founded in 1875. It was the UK's first civic or 'redbrick' university, created to serve a great industrial city, and it is a founding member of the Russell Group.
The main Edgbaston campus is a green, self-contained campus about two and a half miles from the city centre, with its own railway station. Its landmark is 'Old Joe', the Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower, often described as the tallest free-standing clock tower in the world.
Indian students choose Birmingham for business analytics, data science, computer science, engineering management, finance and law. Most one-year master's courses on this page cost £34,830 to £37,440, with computing and data courses at £36,000. The university has run Future Skills Scholarships of £9,125 to £12,500 for Indian students on selected master's courses.
Birmingham is the UK's second-largest city, with a very large South Asian community, Indian groceries and restaurants across the city, and direct rail links to London in under 90 minutes. The university also has a campus in Dubai, which runs separate courses with its own fees.
