About the university

The University of Bradford became a university in 1966 and has about 10,900 students on one City Campus. It is known for engineering, pharmacy, optometry, health subjects and its School of Management, whose Distance Learning MBA the university says is ranked first in the world for value for money.

Bradford is a strongly inclusive university. It was ranked first in England and Wales for first-generation students in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026, and was the Daily Mail's University of the Year for Social Inclusion 2026.

For Indian students the main attractions are low fees and living costs. Most taught master's courses on this page cost £15,700 a year (2026/27 fee), engineering master's £19,500, and Indian nationals get an automatic £2,450 60th Anniversary Scholarship on full-time postgraduate taught courses.

Bradford is a multicultural city in West Yorkshire with a large South Asian community, close to Leeds. The university quotes StudentCrowd's 2026 table, which named Bradford the cheapest UK city for student accommodation, with average rent of about £100 a week.
