About the university
The University of Derby became a university in 1992. Its main campus is at Kedleston Road on the edge of Derby, with further sites in the city centre and campuses in Chesterfield and Buxton.
Derby describes itself as an industry-connected university and puts students in front of employers such as Rolls-Royce, Toyota and the NHS. Computing, engineering, business, health and hospitality are among its larger subject areas.
For Indian students the draw is a single, clear fee: most bachelor's and master's courses cost £18,100 a year for 2027/28 entry. Self-funded international students also receive an automatic £2,000 Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship in their first year, and most master's courses start in September or January.
Derby is a mid-sized city in the East Midlands, close to the Peak District, with lower living costs than London. University halls start from about £107 a week with bills included.
