About the university

The University of Law (ULaw) traces its origins to 1876, became The College of Law in 1962 and gained full university status in 2012. It was the first independent institution in the UK to receive degree-awarding powers from the Privy Council, in 2006.

ULaw is the UK's largest provider of legal education and is known for practice-focused training: LLMs, the law conversion courses (MA Law and PGDL) and SQE preparation for solicitors. Since 2016 it has also run a Business School, and it now teaches computing and data courses too.

For Indian students, the main draws are lower fees than most London universities (business master's from £19,600 and computing master's from £18,050 a year in London for 2027/28), an automatic international bursary, and up to four start dates a year. Many master's courses offer a two-year route with a professional practice year.

Courses run at campuses in London and several other English cities, so check which campus offers your course. London campuses are in Bloomsbury and Moorgate.

    • Other campuses include Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham.
    • More than 250 lecturers are qualified lawyers or business professionals.
    • Award-winning pro bono programmes give law students practical legal experience.

    Careers and graduate outcomes

ULaw focuses on practice-based training, gives students access to its Careers and Employability service as soon as they accept a place, and offers two-year master's routes with a professional practice year. After graduating you can apply for the UK Graduate visa; see our UK guide for the current rules.
