Overview
David Tvildiani Medical University (DTMU) is a private medical university in Tbilisi. It began in 1989 as AIETI Medical School, which the university describes as Georgia's first non-government medical school. It took its founder's name in 2011.
Foreign students study the Medical Doctor (MD) programme fully in English. The university uses its own organ-system curriculum, with computer-based tests at the end of each rotation, and an MD ePBL track built on problem-based learning. Teaching runs six days a week. Clinical training takes place in more than 30 partner hospitals and clinics in and around Tbilisi.
DTMU is a private university, so the December 2025 decision to stop new foreign admissions at state universities does not apply to it directly. It is a small school, and in 2024 its graduates had one of the highest FMGE pass rates among Georgian universities. The university does not publish its fee for foreign students online, so ask for the fee schedule in writing.

Hostel and campus life
DTMU is a compact school with one main address in Tbilisi, so student life is centred on study. Teaching runs six days a week, four hours a day, with regular computer-based tests, and students move between partner hospitals for clinical work. The university lists student clubs and annual events. It does not publish hostel details, so most foreign students rent shared flats and travel to classes and hospitals by bus, metro or taxi. Indian groceries and restaurants are easy to find in Tbilisi.

About Tbilisi
Tbilisi is Georgia's capital, with about 1.4 million people. It runs along the Mtkvari river, with an old town, parks, hills and a cable car. Summers are hot and winters are cold, so heating matters. The metro, buses and app taxis are cheap. There are daily direct flights from Delhi, and India has a resident embassy in Tbilisi. Students should keep away from political protests, which have been frequent in the city centre.
Ranking
DTMU is not in the QS World University Rankings or the THE World University Rankings, and we found no other major global ranking for it. Small specialist medical schools are often left out of these tables, so look at FMGE results and clinical training instead.
Scholarships
DTMU awards internal grants of 100%, 50% or 25% of the fee based on the previous year's results, but not in the first year. Ask whether foreign students on the English programme can apply. Treat any large first-year 'discount' from an agent with caution and confirm it with the university.

FAQs
Is David Tvildiani Medical University still admitting Indian students?
DTMU is private, so the halt on new foreign students at state universities does not apply to it directly. Its website says registration dates are set each July. Confirm in writing that it is admitting foreign students for your intake.
What is the fee at DTMU?
The university does not publish its foreign-student fee online. Press and agent listings in 2026 suggest about USD 8,000 a year. Ask the university for the official fee schedule for all six years.
How good are DTMU's FMGE results?
Careers360, citing NBEMS data, reports that 81 of 167 DTMU graduates passed the FMGE in 2024, about 49%. That was one of the better results among Georgian universities. Past results do not guarantee your own result.
Is the course taught in English?
Yes. The university says the whole teaching process for foreign students is in English. Patients in partner hospitals mainly speak Georgian, so learning basic Georgian helps.
Does DTMU provide a hostel?
Its website does not list a hostel or hostel fee. Plan for a shared private flat, and check the location against the hospitals you will travel to.
Is a DTMU degree valid in India?
The NMC does not approve foreign universities. Your eligibility depends on meeting every FMGL condition, including the licence rule in Georgia, then passing the FMGE and a 12-month internship in India.
