Overview
New Vision University (NVU) is a private, non-profit university in Tbilisi, founded in 2013. Its School of Medicine teaches a six-year, 360-credit Medical Doctor (MD) programme in English, and the university says its students come from more than 90 countries.
The MD is built as four 'loops': body systems and basic sciences first, then bridging subjects such as pharmacology and pathology, then disease management, and finally practice across specialities. It uses problem-based learning, early research work and structured clinical exams (OSCEs). NVU runs its own non-commercial university hospital and several research laboratories.
NVU is a private university, so the December 2025 halt on new foreign admissions at state universities does not apply to it directly. The published fee is USD 7,000 a year. One point needs care: WDOMS notes that students between 2014 and 2023 could finish in five years by taking extra credits. Indian students must complete at least 54 months of study plus a 12-month internship under NMC rules, so do not take any fast-track option.

Clinical Skills Laboratory
A clinical skills laboratory is used for hands-on practice and for OSCE-style exams before and during clinical rotations.

Blood bank
NVU opened a blood bank in 2018, which also gives students a view of transfusion medicine.

NVU's MD programme page lists an annual fee of USD 7,000. It does not say which intake this covers or whether it is fixed for all six years, so ask for a written fee schedule. The admission page asks for an initial tuition payment after the conditional offer, before recognition is complete; confirm in writing what happens to that payment if recognition or the visa is refused. Accommodation, food, visas and insurance are extra. Approximate exchange rates (based on ECB reference rates, March 2026). Actual rates on your payment date will differ.

No NMC notice we found names NVU.

Hostel and campus life
NVU's main address is on Nodar Bokhua Street in Tbilisi. The student body is international, with students from more than 90 countries, so English is widely used on campus. The university runs events and owns a football club. It does not publish hostel details, so most Indian students rent shared flats and use buses, the metro or app taxis. Indian restaurants and groceries are easy to find in Tbilisi. Patients mainly speak Georgian, so the Georgian language classes become important in the clinical years.

About Tbilisi
Tbilisi is Georgia's capital, with about 1.4 million people. It sits along the Mtkvari river, with an old town, parks, hills and a cable car over the centre. Summers are hot and winters are cold. The metro, buses and app taxis are cheap. There are daily direct flights from Delhi, and India has a resident embassy in Tbilisi. Students should stay away from political protests, which have been frequent in the city centre.
Ranking
NVU is not in the QS World University Rankings or the THE World University Rankings. In Times Higher Education's Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 it is placed 601–800 overall and 101–200 for Good Health and Wellbeing. These ratings measure work on the UN goals, not teaching quality.
Scholarships
NVU's admission pages do not list fee scholarships for international MD students. Ask the admissions office in writing about any fee reduction, and confirm any agent 'discount' directly with the university.

FAQs
Is New Vision University admitting Indian students?
NVU is private, so the halt on new foreign students at state universities does not apply to it directly. Georgia has added new rules for foreign students in 2026, so confirm the intake date and requirements with NVU in writing.
What is the fee for the MD at NVU?
NVU lists USD 7,000 a year for the six-year MD. Rent, food, visas and insurance are extra.
Can I finish the MD in five years?
WDOMS says students from 2014 to 2023 could finish in five years by taking up to 75 credits a year, an option that ended in spring 2021. For Indian students this is risky: the NMC requires at least 54 months of study plus a 12-month internship in the same university, so complete the full six years.
How did NVU graduates do in the FMGE?
Careers360, citing NBEMS data, reports that 104 of 284 NVU graduates passed the FMGE in 2024, about 37%, close to the Georgia average of about 36%.
Does NVU have its own hospital?
Yes. NVU says it runs a non-commercial university hospital alongside the New Vision Health Hub. Ask which other clinics you will rotate through in years 4 to 6.
Is an NVU degree valid in India?
The NMC does not approve foreign universities. You must meet every condition of the FMGL Regulations, 2021, including the licence rule in Georgia, then pass the FMGE and complete a 12-month internship in India.
